History and ethos of the company
In 1964, Fishing Captain and Chief Marine Engineer Ricardo Fernández identified a need in the maritime sector: the lack of high-quality equipment on board his vessel. In response to this concern, he set up his own workshop dedicated to improving deck-mobility technologies, giving rise to what is today INDUSTRIAS FERRI S.A. His innovations soon caught the attention of the fishing fleet, and from then on we have kept a focus on optimising existing solutions, avoiding mass production and standardisation.
Every project is a unique challenge, tailored to the specific needs of each customer and to the environment in which it will operate. To consolidate our capabilities, in 2013 we brought Talleres Carral into our structure, integrating more than a century of valuable knowledge and experience -built up since 1921- in the design and manufacture of winches and capstans.
Likewise, to offer a truly comprehensive response, in 2019 we created Ferri Systems, our division specialising in automation and electrical engineering. This addition allows us to combine mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and electronic technologies, ensuring maximum efficiency, safety and seamless operation in every solution.
Today, our group of companies brings together more than 180 years of combined experience in the naval and industrial sector.
The company is currently led by Patricio Fernández, who holds a degree in Economics from the University of Paisley (Glasgow). With a professional career spanning more than 30 years across various areas of Ferri, Patricio has built a comprehensive understanding of the organisation, from the Mechanics division to Foreign Trade.
